The Thompson Team's Favorite Holiday Displays

The presents may be put away, the last light on the menorah lit, the familiar sound of the Salvation Army ringers no longer greeting us at stores, the Dōngzhì Festival and Winter Solstice a fond memory (with anticipation for the slow return of longer days), but that does not mean that the holiday season has ended!

One of the most magical aspects of the holiday are the twinkling lights and holiday displays that adorn homes, stores, and area attractions and bring out the kid in all of us! And the holiday spirit lasts through the first of the year.

It’s going to be cold these next few days, but that’s no reason to stop that holiday spirit, why not bundle up the family and head to these local holiday light displays.

Westford

Westford sparkles during the holiday season delighting homeowners and visitors to this lovely, historic town.

Nashoba Valley Holiday Festival of Lights

Each year Nashoba Valley ski area puts on a show with a winter sleigh ride through a snowy forest coated in over two million lights! Check out their website for more information!

The lights in Westford Center are still up, so take a moment to take a detour and enjoy the lights on the common and some beautifully decorated historic homes that line Main Street in Westford.

Tewksbury

One of the area’s fastest growing towns for real estate is Tewksbury and the residents of Tewksbury certainly know how to deck the halls in the season! With some neighborhoods competing for the best Clark Griswold display and other home owners simply getting in the spirit, these residential homes are worth the ride!

Rockvale Road, Tewksbury

This display gets bigger and better each year and stays through the end of the year!

101 Shawsheen Street, Tewksbury

Lights (lots and lots of lights) and blowups are sure to please at this bright holiday spectacular!

91 Shawsheen Street, Tewksbury

You will think you have left Tewksbury and entered Whoville at this holiday display. With thousands of lights and blow-ups, and of course the Grinch, this home is a must see on your holiday light tour.

Chelmsford

This popular town is better known for their 4^th of July parade and celebration, but it puts on the glitz for the holiday season as well!

The lights at Chelmsford Town Center brighten up the drive through Chelmsford Center, with a large tree decorated with colorful lights and white lights brightening area trees.

Littleton

Growing in popularity for many reasons, including great community spirit and a convenient MBTA station, Littleton shines during the holiday season! The white lights on the common shine during the holidays and a number of homes put on a holiday display worth the ride! 

White Tail Way, Littleton

The White Tail Deer have been replaced with Santa’s reindeer and a holiday light extravaganza!

8 Dahlia Drive, Littleton

For over three decades, the Weatherbees have been delighting families with their ever-growing Christmas display. Marvel at the wonder of the Gingerbread Express, or the over 30,000 lights and large Santa and Snowman, this display gets bigger (and better) every year! The lights dance to holiday music!

ZooLights at the Stoneham Zoo

Don’t miss ZooLights at the Stoneham Zoo! Tree-lined paths greet you in Yukon Creek where you stroll through a winter wonderland, home to bald eagles, porcupines, reindeer and arctic foxes! Meet Santa and his reindeer at this wonderful holiday tradition.

Countryside Drive, Nashua, NH

Just north of the border, you will find a holiday display like no other. The owners begin setting up this impressive light an music show in October and finish just in time for Thanksgiving, when they turn on the switch to the thousands who drive down the road to listen and watch this synchronized light display!

Tower Hill Botanic Gardens, Boylston

If it isn’t already, a visit to Tower Hill Botanic Gardens in Boylston should be on your must-see Holiday Light tour. Each year the 175-year horticultural society decks the halls of their galleries, trees and plants with thousands of lights. Stroll through a true winter wonderland.

Boston

Boston shines during the holiday season; from Faneuil Hall and the Rose Kennedy Greenway to the Boston Common, hotels, museums and Commonwealth Avenue, you don’t have to look too hard to find a bright and cheery light display!
